After the death of YS Rajasekhara Reddy followed by differences with Congress, by 2011, YSRCP came into existence, and with the growth and development the party has shown over the period of time, as per the latest survey, YSRCP can emerge as the single largest party and can win with ultimate majority, and even get a clean sweep. The survey also revealed the dip in the form of TDP ever since they came to power. Even in 2014 elections, they had 46% votes which were higher than that of TDP, though the latter won most seats.
Here are the reasons why Jagan's YSRCP is a challenge to TDP.
a) Congress losing value:
YSRCP succeeding and growing is mainly due to the fall of Congress and their reputation, and with Congress losing its value, anyone who hated TDP had no credible choice other than YSRCP. Even way back in 2012, it was proven that YSRCP had toppled Congress as they won 15 out of 18 assembly seats in Bye-elections, defeating Congress in 13 places.
b) The legacy of YSR:
The following due to legacy and caste reasons also makes Jagan's YSRCP invincible. The legacy of YS Rajasekhara Reddy leads all the way, as his followers are instantly the followers of YSRCP as well, and besides this, with Jagan being a Christian, Dalit Mala community's Christian section, besides the ever-growing vote base of Reddys, minority sections and scheduled castes support is making Jagan a huge challenge for TDP.
c) Jagan's Yatra:
Just like his father YS Rajasekhara Reddy's Padayatra, Jagan's Praja Sankalp Yatra was also a massive success, and he met and interacted with a lot of people creating an impact, and perfectly made use of the rift between BJP and TDP as well. The travel spanning more than 3700 kms and 341 days, had proved a huge advantage over CBN, and increasing his strength and gaining confidence from voters.
d) Interaction with the public:
He has discussed with people regarding issues with the current government, has lashed out and exposed all the failures and false promises of CBN government, and has made people to the mood of getting upset and tired of the promises that were never fulfilled by CBN. He has also taken to the ground level with his party members also actively involving in people welfare activities showing that they can present a better government for people than CBN, thus shaking the vote base of CBN.
With these strong factors, Jagan is a powerful candidate and a huge challenge for CBN.
