According to sources the Makkal Needhi Maiam, headed by actor turned politician Kamal Hassan has been allotted the symbol of the 'battery torch' for the coming general elections. Meanwhile the announcement about the same was made by Kamal Hassan through a tweet.
Furthermore thanking the Election Commission, Kamal tweeted: MNM thanks the Election commission for granting us the "Battery Torch" symbol for the forthcoming elections. So appropriate. @maiamofficial will endeavor to be the "Torch Bearer" for a new era in TN and Indian politics. Moreover having established his party at a public meeting in February last year, Kamal has been voicing out his opinions on various issues.
Apparently he also launched a mobile application 'Maiam Whistle' for party workers where they can report various issues like corruption, civic problems et al. Further the actor, whose last film Vishwaroopam-2 ended up as a debacle, is gearing up to contest the Lok Sabha polls in all segments of Tamilnadu. Moreover on another hand, Kamal's friend and superstar Rajinikanth declared that his party (Rajni Makkal Mandram) will not be contesting LS polls.
