Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is keen on assigning contracts to his favoring contractors who can give him benefits as money or any other ways, and hence is concentrating on smaller projects like Patti Seema which might later be ignored once Polavaram begins. Next he has taken up Godarvari Penna Linkage project, and let's see in detail if River interlinking is actually helping the state or looting the state.

 

Due to construction of new dams there's a huge reduction on water available in the state, besides the wastage of water by using it for various purposes in increased quantities. Following this, the government has planned to interlink rivers to meet the water shortage. AP govt has now joined hands with Vyapkos which is governed by central govt, and manages irrigation projects and the team is now preparing a detailed project report.

 

Some of the suggestions made in the report are:

a)3.50 TMC water to be sent via a canal from Polavaram reservoir daily.

 

b)Upon the reservoir  on Krishna river, a duct to transfer water from Godavari to Krishna river, and this water has to be stored in the reservoir coming on  Bollapalli with 200 TMC capacity.

 

c)From Bollapalli, water will be moved to Nagarjuna sagar canal, and from there to Somashila dam built on Penna river, and on the way it can replenish Muppavaram, Uppuluru, Gundlakamma and Chinnipadu and thus will involve diverting 300+ TMC water and will need tunnel for more than 700 kilometers  and a cost of 80000 crores estimated by Vyapkos. 

 

d)On the other hand government is moving 8500 cusecs water from Patti Seema to Polavaram and 7000 cusecs are required further to be sent to Prakasam barrage. For all this to happen 56 km mines and tunnels are needed, and even  tender was given on a cost of 6000+ crores last year and it was given to CBN favorites. However with Vyapkos recommendations and suggestions followed, this 6000 plus crores will become useless.
