Reportedly in a strange case filed by the Telugu Desam Party leaders, Election Commission officials were shocked when the ruling party activists asked for removal of fans from government offices as the fan is the symbol of YSR Congress Party. Meanwhile this complaint was registered in Ramakuppam mandal in Chittoor district.

Furthermore Telugu Desam Party leaders were annoyed at EC officials' rule to remove Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu's portrait from government offices across the state. Hence irked by this move of the EC, Telugu Desam Party leaders led by Tehsildar Janardhan Setti sent a report to the Election Commission officials to take appropriate action by removing fans from offices.  A TDP Leader said "The Election Commission has requested everyone to follow model code of conduct and portraits of the Chief Minister also have been removed from offices. So, why shouldn't fans (which are YSRCP symbol) is removed? Rules are rules for everyone".

Moreover political observers say that this is a senseless move by TDP activists and leaders as it does not much any sense. Accordingly "Fans are a necessity and now just because a party has it as an election symbol; they want to get them removed? That is ridiculous and apart from that, it is summer, how does one expect to work in summer without fans".
