Vizianagaram Constituency has 78% rural and 22% urban population and the constituency came into existence in 2008 after Delimitation Commission of India suggestion. Vizianagaram Lok Sabha constituency has assembly locations Etcherla, Rajam, Bobbili, Chipurupalli, Gajjapathinagaram, Nellimarla and Vijayanagaram and TDP lok sabha MP Ashok Gajapathi Raju Pusapati from Vizianagaram Parliamentary Constituency has been nominated again.
YSR Congress Party has fielded Bellana Chandrasekhar, former ZPTC Chairman, and a farmer's son who had earlier contested elections from Cheepurupalli assembly constituency in 2014 but lost the elections. YS Jagan Mohan Reddy again gave him the MP ticket from Vizianagaram though he lost, as he had potential and he's from Kapu community which has good vote percentage in the region.
The contest in Vizianagaram is primarily between the rich Ashok Gajapathi Raju, a two time MP and six time MLA and a farmer's son with people's support.
