According to sources TDP always fell back on either other parties or star power to win elections. Last time, it was Tollywood actor Pawan Kalyan and several other Telugu artistes. Presently with Pawan being turned into an invisible supporter, TDP is finding it hard to rope in star campaigners to woo voters for the upcoming elections.

Furthermore if a recent report doing the rounds is any indication then Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar is believed to have issued a diktat to the film industry against lending their support to TDP campaigns. Apparently no wonder then that we don't get to see any film star seeking votes for the Telugu Desam party and also with the YSRCP wave in Andhra Pradesh, no actor seems to be interested in betting on a losing horse.

A Tollywood personality in Andhra Pradesh was quoted as saying “Though the film fraternity had decided to campaign for the TD in AP to help Mr Naidu to come back to power and develop Telugu film industry in a big way in the state, the TRS regime has issued a diktat to them not to take it up and has even threatened them, saying that their properties and business interests will be at stake in TS”. Moreover this seems to the return gift Telangana chief minister KCR was talking about to give his AP counterpart Chandrababu Naidu.
