Accordingly a total of 845 candidates will be contesting from 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamilnadu, according to the final tally announced by Chief Electoral Officer Satyabrata Sahoo. Meanwhile the Election Commission of India released the final number of candidates contesting from each constituency for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls and Tamilnadu assembly bye-polls and the ECI had given time till 3 pm on Friday for the candidates to withdraw their nominations for the elections scheduled to be held on April 18.

Furthermore of the total 845 candidates, 779 are male, 65 are female and one is transgender candidate. Reportedly for the bye-polls in 18 Tamilnadu assembly constituencies, a total of 269 candidates have been announced in the final list. Reports added the officials across Tamilnadu have seized 72.94 crore cash since the Model Code of Conduct came into force and the quantity of gold and silver seized till Friday stood at 608 kilograms collectively worth Rs 74.47 crore.



Moreover according to the ECI data, Tamilnadu still remained at the top spot in the total value of restricted items seized in the run up to the elections as on Friday worth Rs 153.32 crore apart from Gujarat, which saw drugs worth Rs 500 crore seized.
