Right in the opening hours of the polling, TDP Supremo and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has started raising a hue and cry over EVMs alleging them to be 'faulty' and 'favouring YSR Congress'. He wrote a letter to the Election Commission saying that 30% EVMs are non-function and threatened to sit on dharna if they are not rectified.
Many say that only the losers will start raising such issues and that may be the case with Chandrababu Naidu as well. On the other side, State Election Officer, Gopalakrishna Diwedi claims that only around 350 EVMs are found to be faulty due to technical reasons and they are being replaced on a war footing.
Polling, as a result, began late in some areas. Election Commission had announced that everyone who is in the queue until 6 PM today will be allowed to vote. By 2 PM, the Voting had already crossed 50%. Election Commission is expecting the Voting Percentage to cross over 80% which will be the highest in the State History.
