According to sources it was stated that the fourth phase of General Elections has been largely peaceful barring few stray incidents of violence and minor technical snags. Meanwhile according to the figures released by the Election Commission of India around 7:30 PM, a total of 62.15% of voting was registered from 72 Lok Sabha segments that went to polls on Monday.
Furthermore the ECI confirmed that a case has been filed against Union Minister Babul Supriyo for abusing an election officer and forcibly entering a polling station. Reportedly in Chatra, Jharkhand, one person who damaged a ballot unit has been arrested and the ECI spokesperson said one bomb was hurled close to a polling booth in West Bengal. Otherwise the polling was peaceful and nearly 55.86% voting was recorded in Maharashtra (17 seats), 59.02% Bihar (five seats) and 64.38% Jharkhand (3 seats), according to data provided by the Election Commission.
Moreover billionaires and Bollywood stars lined up outside polling stations along with the common folks in Mumbai, where polling was held in six constituencies. Apparently celebrities including Amitabh Bachchan, the Khan troika of Shah Rukh, Salman and Aamir, Deepika Padukone, Sachin Tendulkar along with his wife and Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray cast their votes in Mumbai. Also actors Priyanka Chopra, Rekha, Aamir and his wife Kiran Rao were among the early voters.
