Vijayawada sources stated that the Indian Meteorological Department warned on Monday evening that the Cyclone Storm 'Fani' is likely to intensify severely in the next 24 hours. Reportedly the coastal states of Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and West Bengal are on high alert.

Furthermore amid indications that Cyclone Fani could head towards the Odisha coast after May 1, as of now it is less than 1,000 km from the south AP coast. Meanwhile the Cyclone is expected to bring moderate rain over south coastal Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday and on the Vizag coast on May 2 and from May 3, North coastal AP is likely to experience heavy rainfall. Earlier on Monday, Union cabinet secretary PK Sinha took stock of the situation and held a video conference with the chief secretaries of coastal states. Hence two advisories were issued by the Home Ministry on the impending natural calamity.



Moreover the officials in the state including collectors of all coastal districts have been directed to stay alert and prepare for the cyclonic situation. Apparently according to the Met department, Telangana could expect some rainfall later in the week due to the impact of Cyclone Fani.
