The Polavaram project, which is considered as the lifeline of the State has hampered the finances of the AP State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC). The transport undertaking has been operating special ‘Polavaram Yatra’, CM Programs, and 'Amaravati Yatra' which has cost a whopping 150 crore for the RTC.

Since January 2018, RTC has so far plied about 19,900 buses from various parts of the State by incurring an expenditure of 145 crores and the Water Resources Department is yet to clear dues amounting to 65 crores. For Amaravati Darshan’ (CRDA visit). Of the 6 crores spent on it, a mere 1 crore has been paid.

As many as 4,36,933 farmers, students, and commoners visited the site as on December 31, 2018. In the last week of December 2018, 41,014 people visited the project. These Trips are to boast Chandrababu Naidu's achievements, effectively TDP's Publicity Expense but now, the ailing Road Transport Corporation is bearing the brunt of it.
