Wellknown as i ntellectual  legisaltor of  Andhra Pradesh and the  Lok Satta chief Jayaprakash Narayan today wanted the President Pranab Mukherjee to prevent not sign the ordinance to exempt convicted legislators from disqualification to contest.

  Jayaprakash has written to President  that  the  democratic institutions, dignity of Parliament and State Legislatures need to be  protected and the Ordinance is a blatantly unconstitutional, morally wrong .  The Union cabinet had on Tuesday passed a resolution  to  exempt  persons with criminal background and convictions to not only contest elections but also to particiapte in legislative functions in Assembly and Parliament  but not  hold positions and also not vote on crucial issues in house.

He urged the President to invoke his powers under Article 123,  74 and 111 to refuse to  sign the  Ordinance  and send it back to UPA government and also refer it to the Supreme Court for opinion
