Sources stated that he offered resignation to the Congress Working Committee (CWC) but the committee had rejected Rahul's decision. Meanwhile the CWC did not take any decision on Rahul's decision and reasons behind the party's debacle in the elections. Furthermore rahul on Monday met ahmed Patel and general secretary KC Venugopal and insisted to accept his resignation. Apparently the Gandhi scion was also supposed to meet Rajasthan Chief Minister ashok Gehlot but he cancelled it in the last minute owing to be upset of the poll results.

Further in 17 states, Congress party has failed to win the trust of people and this has made the governments in Rajasthan, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh fall in back seat. BJP is looking to take hold of Karnataka being the single largest party and there are similar scenes in MP as well. Meanwhile the most unsinkable thing is rahul losing Amethi which is the Gandhi's strong hold since three decades.



Moreover Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chiefs of three states have tendered their resignation. Hence overall, the defeat in the general elections is shaking the Congress from grass root level and this is hardest phase of Congress ever since its existence and it has to come out quickly and learn from the mistakes.
