Reportedly the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) workers have threatened to go on an indefinite strike from June 13, if the government doesn't roll back its decision of downsizing the staff and if it fails to clear all the pending dues. Reportedly the government owes the Corporation Rs 600 crore due to the losses suffered by the latter. Perhaps they also demanded that the government should merge the Corporation with the state government one of their long standing demands.

Meanwhile APSRTC convener, Damodar Rao, told media that the bus services would stop from June 12 evening, and all the employees would boycott their duties. Furthermore he said that on June 13, the first day of the strike, they would stop long service buses. Further the convener asked the new Chief Minister, YS jagan Mohan Reddy to respond on the issue and concede to their long pending demands. Besides, he asked jagan to fulfill his promise of merging the APSRTC with the government.

Damodar said "The Chief Minister should take initiative and merge the APSRTC with the state government. This was promised by jagan Mohan Reddy while he was on the padayatra". Moreover he demanded that the state government should take measures to help the APSRTC recover from the losses. Apparently the government is yet to clear arrears pending from 2013. The previous TDP led government had plans to remove 4,000 employees from service, which the APSRTC has been strongly opposing.
