The national spelling bee contest has been held for 92 years and now in the history of the event for the first time eight kids have won the title in the final round which went for close to 3 and a half hours with participation by kids aged between 12 to 14.
The spellers proved their skills by cracking the challenges and on the 4th day of the National spelling bee contest which had the participation of a massive 562 spellers arriving from a total of 50 states, the finalists were shorted to sixteen kids during the event held at Maryland's Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center. Some of the participants were kids who had contested in the past in earlier versions of the spelling bee contest.
Of the eight declared winners of the National Spelling bee contest namely Rishik Gandhasri, Saketh Sundar, Shruthika Padhy, Sohum Sukhatankar, Abhijay Kodali, Christopher Serrao, Rohan raja and Erin Howard 7 are with Indian origin and the winner gets a cash prize of $50,000.
