The Water scarcity in Chennai has reached new peaks as IT companies, Hotels were shut down and the IT employees were asked to work from home. Most of the Hotels were closed and restaurants were shut down on a temporary note due to the water crisis. Metro Water lorries are rushing through the cities and despite that people are unable to afford enough water.
Even some malls have been closed temporarily until a solution has been found for the water crisis. Drinking water prices have been raised as water cans are being sold for Rs.300 and Rs.500. But Municipality and Rural Administration Minister SP Velumani claimed that these problems were just fake.
He said that the government was ensuring water supply throughout the city and simultaneously addressing shortages. The groundwater is also depleting across the state and now the residents are in a nightmare, but the minister's statement has angered everyone.
