In what can be termed as a major disappointment for the Telangana Government, the Telangana High Court directed the State government to refrain from demolishing Secretariat and the Erramanzil Palace until further orders are issued. The court said that the matter was still sub-judice on hearing a lunch motion petition moved by legal heirs of the Palace.


The legal heirs demanded that the government should go forward with the demolition only after paying appropriate compensation to their 12 acres' land was pending from 1951 in courts. Another social activist also filed a PIL challenging the State government’s intention to shift the Assembly


The Court adjourned the case until two weeks. Meanwhile, Chief Minister kcr has directed officials to complete work of shifting of departments from the secretariat buildings in 15-30 days in consultation with the cabinet sub-committee. The shifting involves files, furniture, computers, and staff, from the Secretariat.
