The Google, global search engine major has launched netizens vote for an India initiative to promote NGOs on how to make India and the world a better place using technology.
Google plans to provide a Rs 3 crore Global Impact Award to best non profits, which tackle problems ranging from rural education to agricultural development to sanitation,says Google official Ram Sriram .
Among the ten shortlisted tech initiatives by non profits are for kids motorbike science labs , digital toolkit to reduce gender-based violence, an online marketplace for waste pickers in Delhi, a video hub and an online knowledge platform to help farmers , an open source mobile games to teach entrepreneurship skills to India’s rural children, online and mobile apps to C2G services in cities , open platform to promote children’s e-books , a network of real-time sensors to monitor power supply and improve power distribution quality, digital mapping of urban slums , solar-powered water purification and organic technology for rural india .
