Chennai sources stated that In a move to potentially address the scores of complaints of having to wait for 15-30 days after booking to get water delivered, the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB) has announced that steps have been taken to reduce the water delivery time to two days. Meanwhile in a series of tweets the CMWSSB said that the customers can choose the day on which they want their water to be delivered during the time of booking itself and the delivery date options will not exceed 48 hours.

Furthermore CMWSSB also said that once the water booked is delivered, the customer can rebook water only after seven to 10 days. Customers can book tanker lorries of 2000, 3000, 6000, 9000 and 16000 litres capacities over phone or through the water authority’s website. The tweet said “Phone bookings can be done only for tankers of 3000 litres capacity, for which the customers must make the payment by cash. Those who book water through the internet can pay using their debit or credit cards”.

Moreover CMWSSB has been facing flak over the past few months for the haphazard management of water tanker lorries. Hence facing severe water crisis over the past few months, complaints are mounting about how consumers have to wait for up to a month for water from the date of booking.
