Reportedly cloudy weather is expected to continue in Chennai city with the Met Department predicting light rain in some areas. Meanwhile the bulletin issued at 9 pm on Saturday from the Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai said, “The sky condition is likely to be generally cloudy. Light rain is likely to occur in some areas.”

Furthermore maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 35 and 28 degree Celsius respectively on Monday while Tuesday's maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 36 and 29 degree Celsius respectively.  Accordingly light to moderate rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Tamilnadu over the next four days.



Meanwhile, making its main weather observations for the country, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) stated, “Yesterday, the highest maximum temperature of 38.8°C was recorded at Madurai (Tamilnadu).” Recently Chennai has recorded 56% above normal rain since June 1, recording 247.5 millimeters of rainfall from June 1 to July 27. The normal rainfall that Chennai is expected to receive every year from the southwest monsoon is 159.1 mm. According to a report Nungambakkam recorded a maximum temperature of 34.1 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 28 degrees Celsius.
