City police commissioner C V Anand says that student teams from african countries like Nigeria, Tanzania etc are engaged in transportation and distribution of drugs to children od rixh politicians, film stars, industrialists and the mafia. ' Most of the drug comes from Pakistan via Bangladesh, Nepal to Calcutta and Bangalore and later brought to Hyerabad through illegal roads for retail marketing. ' In all a whopping Rs.1210 crore worth drugs caught since last three years ' say the police quoting past statistics.
What is shocking is that cost of drug has also shot up at Rs.4000 per gram ( costlier than gold) in retail market while its cost of production is just Rs.25 per 100 grams (Rs 250 per kg) in the hinterlands of India and also asian and african countries where growing marijuana is encouraged as a cash crop by mafia led governments .
