Reportedly Mahendra Singh Dhoni, an honorary lieutenant colonel in the Territorial Army (TA), joined Army troops in the south Kashmir region on Wednesday to carry out patrolling, guard duties and similar responsibilities just like other soldiers. Meanwhile officials said the former Indian cricket team captain will be staying with his 106 TA Battalion (Para) till August 15 and under take duties with the troops.

Army Chief Bipin Rawat told "Dhoni has the caliber and he has proven it earlier too when he had trained. He will do a good job in this too”. Furthermore Lt Col Dhoni arrived in srinagar on Wednesday and has joined his unit, and the unit is deployed in the militancy infested south Kashmir region as part of Victor Force. Further sources in the Army say, Dhoni will participate in all the exercises including patrol duties, guard post duties etc.



Moreover he wouldn't be sent into operational duties during the current period. An Army officer said "He will be like any other soldier in the training. He will learn all the tasks that are expected from a soldier".
