Andhra Pradesh government has issued a pre-closure termination notice for works over ₹3,000 crore, given to Navayuga Engineering Construction. The company has been asked to consent to the termination or exit the project and settle accounts in 15 days. Navayuga is treated as one of the efficient construction companies in india.

Gajendra Shekhawat, the Union Jal Shakti minister did not mince words while speaking on Polavaram in the Lok Sabha. “We are unhappy that the Andhra Pradesh government has canceled the contract and decided to go in for fresh tenders. It will not only increase the time that will be taken to finish the project, but it will also lead to cost escalation,” said Shekhawat.

The NDA government is not amused that despite being a Rs 55000 crore national project for which the Centre is bearing the cost, its advice or concurrence was not sought before taking the decision. Prime Minister Narendra modi is likely to take up the issue while the Chief Minister meets him in New delhi on 6th of this month.
