For the first time after Telangana movement and the Jagan wave, there seems to be some thinking on the part of TDP and some confidence that it may not be that far from power in 2014. On the other hand, this could be their last best shot to form government because things will change totally after that.
In this angle, the Kapus formed the bulwark of TDP inspite of animosity between NTR and Kapu icon Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga and it was only after Kapu vote bank started moving in 2008 that TDP started feeling the pinch and lost its second chance after 2004, in 2009.
It is now heard that the TDP chief Naidu appointed Metluri, a kapu leader hailing from East Godavari as one of its Vice President. This could be opening the doors for more defections of Kapu leaders from the politically key districts in Coastal Andhra! If this works then TDP gets much stronger.
