According to sources heavy rainfall for the past few days in Andhra Pradesh and in neighboring states of Telangana, Odisha has resulted in flash floods in the godavari river basin in East Godavari and over Vamsadhara in Srikakulam. Meanwhile the overflowing of river streams and rivulets from upper catchment has resulted in the flooding and apparently district collectors and disaster management authorities are overseeing the safety measures.

Presently Srikakulam District Collector J Nivas and state Minister Darmana Prasada Rao are reviewing the situation from Collector’s office, while Patapatnam MLA Reddy Shanthi has visited the low-lying areas along with officials. Furthermore AP State Disaster Management Department Commissioner is overseeing the flood situation from Emergency Operation Centre and the district and mandal officials concerned have been given instructions with regard to measures that need to be taken. 



Moreover AP disaster management authorities have said that one State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and two National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams were being deployed in Srikakulam district. Perhaps the government is yet to ascertain the property and crop damage in the region and reportedly TDP leader MLC Nara lokesh, who visited the flood-affected villages in Achanta, Palakole and Narasapuram areas, said that the government has failed to take advance measures to prevent damage. Moreover he has asked the government to estimate the crop damage and give compensation immediately.
