Congress high command has keenly working to revive party position in SA after announcing the division of the state. Leaders of Congress High Command are looking various possibilities to strengthen the party in the region. Community-wise most of the Reddy and Kamma people have supported YSRCP and TDP respectively. Next dominant percentage of community is “Kapu” in SA. Since so many years Kapu voters supports Congress in the state. In 2009, some of them supported Chiranjeevi led PRP. Congress wants to back Kapu into their fold.
There is a historical demand from the community to include them in BC’s. This demand increases more when PRP merged into Congress. PRP leaders openly demanded Congress to include Kapu in BC’s at the time merging. Congress can’t look into this demand till now. As per the changing circumstances, Chiranjeevi wants to raise this issue again. He discussed with Kapu leaders that the demand will fulfill before general elections.
After taking CWC decision on Telangana, Kapu community in Coastal Andhra and Balija Community in Rayalaseema were angered on Congress decision. Most of the representatives from Kapu Community have looking towards other parties like YSRCP and TDP. To console them Congress high Command fulfill Kapu’s long time demand. Can this resolve problems in SA for Congress? To know the answer we have to wait till 2014 general elections.
