Andhra Pradesh government approved cancellation of the contract worth Rs 3,216.11 crore, given to Navayuga Engineering Company for construction of the Polavaram hydel power project. The Project was granted to the company during Chandrababu Naidu's Tenure. Fresh tenders would be called through the reverse tendering process. The mobilization advance given to the company would also be recovered.
It is already known to our readers that Andhra Pradesh High Court has stalled the Reverse Tendering Process of Polavaram Project. However, the Chief Minister is adamant to let go of this issue and is mulling the option to approach Andhra Pradesh High Court's Divisional Bench. The earlier verdict is given by a Single Judge. Moreover, Center is also differing with the State Government in this issue.
Both the Polavaram Project Authority and the High Court felt that there is no single valid reason for the Pre-Closure of the Contract. Reverse Tendering will ensure in the delay of the project which will also incur an indirect expense. TDP has already welcomed the court decision and stated that this judgment is a clean chit for the Polavaram Project and the TDP Government's rule.
