hyderabad sources stated that IMD said as of Wednesday morning received 76 mm of rainfall at the city's centre while the rainfall recorded towards the city outskirts touched 132 mm. Meanwhile the highest rainfall hyderabad has ever record stands at 241 mm on 24th August 2000. Furthermore according to the Extreme Weather Events, the record in terms of highest rainfall for September alone stands at 153.2mm recorded on September 1908.

Further as of Tuesday, the Automatic Weather Station recorded 76 mm at Begumpet and 132 mm at Tirumalgiri, said YK Reddy, Chief Meteorologist, IMD hyderabad. Reportedly when asked if the 132mm rainfall is a record of any sort, Reddy said, "We do not know if 132 mm is the second or the third-highest, there may be some other higher number one or two or three years back and there would be some value which may be between these two values, so can't say it's the second highest. Unless you see the whole September monthly data analysis for many years we cannot say."

Moreover the rain brought the city to a standstill, with several arterial roads getting flooded and traffic blocks many parts of the city. Perhaps hyderabad residents blamed the city's poor drainage system, bad roads and poor response from the municipality for the troubles faced by commuters every time it rains in the city.
