Reportedly the police have arrested Vishwakarma and recovered some of the stolen items from his possession and filed an FIR against him in Gamdevi Police Station. Perhaps the theft is said to have taken place between September 16 and 18, but came to light only after some silver and brass items were found missing from the Minister's house. Apparently the Minister's family members filed a police complaint about the stolen items in the police station.

Moreover police officers said that they are also suspecting Vishwakarma of stealing confidential data from Goyal's personal computer. Further Police added that the accused had sent emails to some unidentified persons and later deleted data from his mobile. Perhaps the police had registered cases under IPC sections 381 (theft by a servant), 405 (criminal breach of trust) and the Information technology Act, and further investigation is underway.
