All does not seem to be well between the YSRCP and the BJP in Andhra Pradesh and going by the developments in the state, BJP seems to be not keen giving the leverage to jagan Government to get strong in the State. On Friday, a BJP delegation led by state chief Kanna Lakshminarayana traveled to the Polavaram irrigation project site.
Visibly unhappy over the lack of progress in the last four months, the state unit will meet Union Jal Shakti minister gajendra singh shekhawat on Sunday to directly execute the project. The BJP says the Jaganmohan Reddy government has wasted time by terminating the previous contract and going in for reverse tendering, citing corruption in the previous deal.
Polavaram Multi-Purpose Irrigation Project comes with a total capacity of 194 TMC which will irrigate about Five Lakh Acres over Two Crops Every year. The Project will also generate 960MW of Hydel Power which is the cheapest available power in the market right now. Hence the project is said to be very beneficial for the state and is treated as the 'Life Line'.
