Sources say that with the clock ticking the Group of Ministers (GoM) is exploring the possibility of granting a special status to joint capital Hyderabad other than making it Union Territory. This could be the last straw of the entire political process. Union rural development minister Jairam Ramesh is expected to discuss options on Hyderabad with the Seemandhra Union ministers who have been called for a meeting with him at 10.30 am on Wednesday. The Seemandhra ministers, MM Pallam Raju, V Kishore Chandra Deo, Kavuri Samabasiva Rao, Panabaka Lakshmi, K Chiranjeevi, Kotla Suryaprakash Reddy, D Purandeswari, J D Seelam and Killi Kruparani raised their final pitch for making Hyderabad a Union Territory, a demand that is being fiercely opposed by the Telangana leaders. After taking the views of all concerned including the Seemandhra Union ministers, the GoM in its full strength will be reportedly meeting at 2.30 pm today and after discussing all the contentious issues including the shape of Telangana, status and jurisdiction of Hyderabad and Bhadrachalam, will finalize its report.
