Kanchi Kamakoti seer Jayendra saraswati and his successor Vijayendra have both been acquitted in the famous two decade old Shankara Raman murder case finally.
The Puducherry court found that the case hoisted during the last AIADMK regime had not been proved by the prosecution even after producing 189 witnesses being examined .The case had shocked the nation as Jayendra saraswati was one of the much respected pontiffs of the country and even Indira Gandhi had bowed before him.
The pontiff and his successor were hauled up from Mahbubnagar district by the Tamil nadu police and put behind the bars by the police which brought down the Jayalalithaa first regime due to protest of the strong Brahmin community in the state.
