The Polling for Huzoornagar By-Election has concluded a little while ago and the result will be out on the 24th of this month. The by-poll has been necessitated due to the resignation of state Congress president N Uttam Kumar Reddy after his election to the Lok Sabha. He had fielded his wife, Padmavathi Reddy as the candidate. TRS has fielded S Saidi Reddy, who lost to the PCC president in Assembly polls, again.

Party Senior Leader Chava Kiranmayi entered the fray as a TDP candidate. Contesting Huzoornagar is a risky decision because the party did not contest here in 2018 elections. It has left the seat to Congress as a part of seat-sharing. In 2014, it has contested but came fourth after Congress, TRS, and ysr Congress. Contesting the seat now will mean huge risk. The party should perform here decently so that it can send a message to the party cadre at the grass-root level that the party is still alive and kicking.

But we are told that the party will be losing its deposit and may not get more than 3000-4000 votes. Huzoornagar is the stronghold of the Uttam family. Sources say that TRS is damn confident of winning Huzurnagar by-poll with a massive majority. If that happens it will be a massive blow for the Congress Party.
