The Brajesh Kumar Tribunal seems to have dealt no less than a death blow to Andhra Pradesh. If one goes by the reports carefully, the permission given to Karnataka to raise Almatti height will be having a disastrous effect on Krishna Delta. The Kharif season earlier started by early June in Krishna Delta plus irrigated areas of Mahabubnagar, Kurnool, Guntur, Nalgonda, Khammam and Krishna districts through Srisailam and Nagarjuna Sagar dams. With Karnataka raising Almatti height, this was postponed to August such that the entire crop is at mercy of cyclones and storms which occurs usually in October-November. Earlier before cyclones arrived, the crop was almost harvested.  Now with the tribunal permitting Almatti height to increase further, the Kharif season may only start during October which is not at an ideal season climate wise. Instead farmers can wait one more month to directly start Rabi after cyclone seasons are over, so practically Kharif season should be stopped in AP resulting in loss of lakhs of metric tons of rice and livelihood to lakhs of farmers!
