In the run upto 2014 general elections, political opportunism is at full display. With one after the other party trying to cozy up with Modi, Congress is at the receiving end of the spectrum. And things are looking quite bad for them.
Now sources say that one more regional partner, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam or DMK has dumped Congress party. The allies were uneasy with each other after the 2 G scam involving its MP’s Kanimozhi and Raja.
DMK later used Sri Lankan issue as pretext and left UPA but provided outside support. Congress also helped DMK patriarch’s daughter Kanimozhi in gaining one more Rajya Sabha term. However, cracks have begun to appear already.
Kalaignar Karunanidhi has reportedly said that Congress party is wrong and it prefers to go for 2014 polls without tying up with the party! This would be a big blow to Sonia Gandhi and co because they would lose their only support in south.
