Nellore district politics generates heat among all three major political parties like YSRCP, Congress and TDP. There are nine MLA Segments exist in the district. Nellore district politics run among three major families (Anam, Mekapati and Nedurumilli). Nedurumilli group is slowly disappearing in the district map due to illness of Janardhana Reddy and not any one of the family members actively participated from the family. Now it’s straight fight between Mekapati and Anam groups.
Atmakur Segment is the first to attract many out of them. Minister Ram Narayana Reddy represents from Atmakur Segment and become Minister of the State. Minister has also responsibility to win not only Atmakur but other remaining Segments in the district. As per current scenario, Congress has lost its glory in SA region. Anam is thinking how to win his segment leaving other at their fate. From YSRCP, Mekapati Rajmohan Reddy son Gowtham Reddy would face Anam family in Athmakur in 2014 general elections.
Mekapati family is financially sound and many Congress cadres joined in YSRCP in this segment. Gowtham Reddy was already starting its activities in the segment and went aggressively in the segment. YSRCP lashed at Minister for not providing minimum facilities and fails to fulfill promises in the segment. TDP had won four times in Atmakur is not yet announced TDP nominee for this Segment. Atmakur will become centre of attraction with this fight.
