December 26th, 1988- It was an unforgettable day in the history of AP politics and especially the violent history of intra-caste and intra-group war of Vijayawada, which was known for its notoriety in South India.
Vijayawada being the hotbed for Kapu-Kamma caste war was simmering with murders and counter actions with Congress-TDP, Devineni-Radha, Kamma-Kapu and other factions at work that finally led to the brutal murder of Kapu Tiger Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga.
He was killed on the third day of his fasting at home and he was the first person in AP to muster political strength to get all the Kapus united under one platform. His death sparked protests that lead to scores of deaths, curfew for weeks together and property worth hundred crores being destroyed according to 80s standards!
Today the city has moved on and the intra caste wars have come down but hundreds of students who followed their leaders are facing legal troubles and cases to this day and also amputated limbs and distorted lives!
