The unusual sight of the blue waters of the Bay of Bengal turning reddish in a nearly half a kilometre stretch of RK Beach reportedly stunned Vizagites and scientists alike this Saturday. Sources say that the citizens of Vizag woke up to a bloody Friday morning looking at the shocking sight of the sea waters turning red all the way. People who have been born and brought up in Vizag reportedly said they have never across such a bizarre sight of the sea waters turning into red. Sources also add that red colour persisted for over 48 hours over a huge stretch with reports that sea waters first starting gaining red tinge on Thursday but which became visible again during high tides on Saturday. After preliminary tests, scientists at the National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) reportedly attributed the red colour to the presence of bulk species of dinoflagellates when the level of artificial nutrients in sea water is high, but after further testing further the NIO scientists reportedly said the colour could also be due to sand erosion underneath the sea.
