Amid controversy as to whether the debate on the draft AP Reorganization Bill-2013 has indeed started, the state Assembly has finally taken up discussion on the bill. It was the turn of Tourism minister Vatti Vasanth Kumar who spoke first and registered his dissent to the bill. This is before the Speaker adjourned the House due to disruptions by the YSR Congress members who demanded a resolution in favour of the united state. Later Speaker Nadendla Manohar asked finance minister Anam Ramnarayan Reddy to make an appeal to the members on behalf of the government. While Anam said that TDP had asked for some additional information relating to the draft Bill and they have forwarded their request to the Centre, and in response, they have communicated back to the state government. Vatti reportedly said that he is privileged to start the debate on the bill which would decide the fate of eight crore people of the state. The pro-Telangana parties including TRS, BJP, and CPI welcomed the move saying the debate had began in a proper order. This is no historic moment because this may be the last session of United AP if Centre’s strategy succeeds!
