Contradicting earlier indications, chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy continued in office on Tuesday but Kiran has now quit on Wednesday by presenting his resignation letter. He has tendered his resignation not just from the post of CM but also from the Congress party and also as the MLA. Sources say that Kiran deferred his exit by a day because of astrological considerations. When media descended on the camp office at Begumpet yesterday in anticipation of Kiran's resignation, the CM did not venture out. Only three ministers, Pitani Satyanarayana, Syed Ahmadulla and K Parthasarathi came to the camp office to meet Kiran. Sources say that Kiran was disappointed with only three ministers coming to see him. Apart from the ministers, only three MLAs and two MLCs called on the CM. This is a clear indication that none of the Congress leaders are keen to revolt against the high command. With Kiran Reddy's close ally Lagadapati Rajagopal now announcing his political sanyas, the future of the proposed new party is also dim and there is all likelihood that Kiran will also retire from active politics soon. If this happens then the glory that Kiran enjoyed would get shortlived.
