For the proposed capital of Seemandhra, there are many places in the fray! Kurnool As the capital of erstwhile Andhra state, the town is located ideally with abundant water supply and basic infrastructure. Dominated by Reddys, there are rumors that Kammas may not agree to thecity and even leaders from north Andhra, may not favour this due to the distance. Tirupati An internationally reputed city with good infrastructure and proximity with both coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema. But leaders like Chandrababu Naidu, may not agree with a spiritual city turning into a political hub. Ongole Situated closer to Rayalaseema and also parts of Prakasam district were once a part of Kurnool district. It lacks basic infrastructure though it is placed on the Chennai-Kolkata highway and rail routes but can agreeable to both Rayalaseema and Andhra leaders. Macherla: A surprise contender, this sleepy town in Guntur district may be considered due to its proximity to Hyderabad and located closer to Nagarjuna Sagar dam with good water supply. Will be like a buffer town between Andhra and Telangana! Vijayawada-Guntur This happens to be the most suitable place for location of capital. Highly developed region with rail, road and air connectivity. But as it is Kamma dominated, Reddys may disagree. Visakhapatnam A rapidly developing city with an international airport which is also emerging as an IT hub. Rayalaseema leaders may not agree because of the distance.
