Many private colleges that offer courses in information technology are expected to shut down their operations and those that still operate will be cutting down their intake much before Andhra Pradesh is officially bifurcated. Sources say that authorities of more than 100 colleges will be writing to the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) soon requesting formal sanction to shut down their institutes. They currently offer courses in engineering, MBA, MCA, pharmacy, B.Ed and D.Ed. while engineering colleges are drastically cutting down on their intake for IT and Electronics and Electrical engineering (EEE) courses. There are around 620 B.Ed. and 822 D.Ed. colleges in Andhra Pradesh and many colleges fear they will not get students due to the uncertainty regarding teaching jobs in the bifurcated state. This is just one of the major problems of bifurcation and many more are expected to come.
