Remember the period 1990-2001 of Indian cricket. Many players played for the team and vanished but TendulkaTr stayed. Tendulkar is expected to win matches though there are 11 players playing for the team. Most of Indian TVs switch off once opposition succeed in getting his wicket. Team India lost the Chennai test despite Tendulkar’s ton and with only needing 13runs to from remaining 5 wkts. Tendulkar single handedly won the Sharjah matches in 1998. Tendulkar’s ton and Man of the series are the most awaited and expected than India win for the Billion people. Period 1997-2000 Dravid and Ganguly made their way to the strong Indian batting lineup. They often won the matches on their own. Team look and spirit changed once Ganguly took over captaincy 2000. Suddenly, there are more young match winners flown in to the team. Indian team used to win matches that might have lost otherwise. Laxman made his way to test arena and also in ODIs. Yuvraj, Sehwaj, Kaif ,Harbhajan and Zaheer khan used to be match winners on their own with support from seniors especially Ganguly. Aggressive fielding and cricket is the new address for Indian team. Once Ganguly lost his form, captaincy and place, Dravid took over captaincy and did well for 2yrs but the success is mostly in limited overs format. Another match winner Dhoni flew in the team during this period. After the debacle of 2007, Dravid quit captaincy and captaincy gone to Dhoni for T20 world cup where team emerged as champions. India became No.1 in tests, won the ODI world cup during his captaincy but somehow they kept losing in T20s. By this time Dravid, Ganguly and Laxman settled only for their test spots. Now india is doing extremely bad in tests especially overseas where they lost all the series without winning or drawing a match. ODI form is not better either. Now all senior players are retired and poor form kept all match winners out of the team. Dhoni is the one potential match winner and most senior player in the team, its effect showing on the results. All the while we didn’t talk about bowling which is supposed to be average that can only go bad most often. One man stood for the batting for the last two to 3years. Most prolific run scorer and become spine of Indian batting now. Virat Kohli is aggressive, elegant and most responsible batsmen of the team now. Unlike Rohit, Shikar and Rainas, he is not a flat track bully. He kept winning the matches for the team. If there is a chase, then expect him to score big and you will not be disappointed. Be it test, ODI or T20, he is most impeccable in building innings and reaching the target. As the bowling continuous to be poor, as usual its Indian batsmen’s responsibility to win matches. No other batsmen taking the responsibility and also doesn’t have the skill and technique. Virat kohli is our new one man army. Problem is that he is the solid batsmen and also the aggressor. His burden is high especially because he is looked as a future captain also. Situation will look similar to Sachin’s captaincy days. Selectors should now look at future and also world cup 2015 which is Indian team has to defend. Need more solid and consistent players like Pujara and Rahane to be given more chances in ODIs. More spinners and face bowlers need to be developed. Though Bhuvi is doing good in india but struggled heavily in overseas. India should rebuild their team and the players who are capable of playing all three
