Selecting the Mayor candidate for Vijayawada Municipal Corporation will become problem to TDP President CBN. TDP tasted huge success in Municipal elections by winning 37 wards out of 59 in the city. This is greatest ever victory for the party since the city turns to be the Corporation. TDP had won just 12 Municipalities even when its candidate Anuradha worked as Mayor for Vijayawada Corporation. YSRCP comes in second with having 17 wards in the elections.
Congress and Communists have shared Mayor Position among Tadi Shankuntala, Rathana Bindu and Mallika Begum on rotation for all 5 years. People were faced worst governance from all three. There were no salaries for municipal staff since last 4 months. There are no developing activities around the Corporation. All this leads anti-incumbency towards Congress party. Many seniors from TDP have number of times as ward members in the Corporation.
Muppa Venkateswara Rao, Chennupati Gandhi, Dange Kumar, Jasti Sambasiva Rao and Koneru Sridhar are all seniors who won thrice in Corporation elections. Youth wing President Devineni Baji wife Aparna also won as ward member. TDP pals to avoid this time for Kamma Community candidates for Mayor Position due to announcement of Gadde Anuradha as Chairman of Krishna ZP. Keeping this in view some suggests for rotation as like Congress and Communists did in last term. There is also fear that this experiment will bounce. Vijayawada leaders are waiting for CBN announcement.
