Pothuluri Veera Brahmam garu in his Kalagnanam wrote that in future wars will occur for water. And looks like the prophecy is coming true in the case of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states. Last week Center had to interfere in the conflict over releasing drinking water for Krishna Delta. Following the directive, Telangana government released 3.6 thousand million cubic feet (TMC) water from Nagarjuna Sagar dam for the Krishna district region of Andhra. The water supply will be stopped today as the one week is complere. However officials of Krishna Delta system say only 2.74 TMC water has reached the Krishna Delta and loss due to evaporation and craters caused by sand mining reduces water flow Of the 2.74 TMC, less than 1 TMC has reached the Prakasam Barrage for further distribution down stream. Andhra Pradesh is seeking 10 TMC water to fulfil the drinking water requirements of the four districts – Krishna, Guntur, West Godavari and Prakasam. However officials of Nagarjuna Sagar Dam says they have completed their directive and can release the water only on further notices by the Krishna River Management Board. However Telangana irrigation minister Harish Rao says the released water will be enough for drinking water needs but AP wants the water for their nurseries and farms. Harish Rao said "Telangana districts are also in need of water. We have to meet the requirements of Hyderabad and surrounding areas as well as Nalgonda and Khammam districts. We are doing everything we can under the present circumstances." The issue now lies at the mercy of Krishna River Management board.
