Reddy Community from Nellore dominates AP politics so far. Leaders like Nallapureddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy, Nedurimilli Janardhan Reddy, Magunta Subbarami Reddy, Somi Reddy Chandra Mohan Reddy, Anam Reddy brothers and Mekapati have made their mark in AP politics either in TDP or in Congress. There is no place for Reddy Community after 2014 General elections.
Since 2009 onwards Nedurumilli lost his grace in district politics and his son also lost the election in Venkatagiri to TDP. Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy lost to YSRCP YV Subba Reddy in Ongole (two Assembly segments in Nellore). Nallapureddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy lost to TDP nominee from Kovvur. TDP Senior leader Somireddy lost to YSRCP candidate in Sarvepalli. At last Anam Ramanarayana Reddy lost his deposit in Atmakur as Congress Nominee. Mekapati won with 11K over Adala Prabhakar Reddy from Nellore Parliament.
Even though 5 YSRCP candidates from Reddy Community won but they can’t make impact and influence on State politics because of no power. Political power changed in Nellore from Reddy Community to BC Community. Narayana Educational institutes Chairman P. Narayana has played key role in district politics. CBN is taking him into consideration and gave chance in his cabinet and assigned key portfolio. It’s unbelievable to see the famous Nellore Reddy Community is in silent mode.
