Even as the Election Commission of India has issued a notification for the by-election to the medak seat fell vacant followed by resignation of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, the parties have almost taken a decision to announce their candidates. Yesterday TNGO leaders called on Deputy Chief Minister Mahamood Ali at the Secretariat and sought Medak MP Ticket to their leader Devi Prasad. They appealed to him to impress upon Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to rope in Devi Prasad. As per latest buzz from reports, the AICC has zeroed in on Sunitha Lakshma Reddy, a former minister to contest from Medak. The AICC considers Sunitha being a loyal Congress leader and is noted for a fair political career. AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh, who arrived in Hyderabad, is likely to announce Sunitha’s name. BJP is also eyeing to rope in rather a strong candidate, who enjoys people’s support in the wake of BJP national president Amith Shah’s directive to win the seat at any cost. As per latest reports from party circles, the Bharatiya Janatha party is planning to field senior leader and former Union minister Ch Vidyasagar Rao, who is known for fair and spotless politics. Actress-turned-politician Vijayashanti, who lost in the recent elections from the Congress is learnt to have revealed her mind to get back to the BJP fold. When asked recently, Kishan Reddy maintained that Vijayashanti and many others are ready to join the BJP, but a decision is still to be taken. However, this time around, the TDP being an ally of the BJP at the Centre is likely to extend support to the latter instead of fielding its own candidate. And finally, the TRS Chief K Chandrashekhar Rao, who put in his papers to Medak MP seat after taking over as the first Chief Minister of Telangana State is more cautious on the issue. It has become a prestige issue for the CM to win the Medak seat in this tight competition from other party candidates.
