Telugu people are sharing everything with the state bifurcation then why not Dooradarshan Channel?
The government-owned Doordarshan is set for bifurcation with Telangana having its own channel from September . Telangana Chief Minister KCR has announced the separate version of Doordarshan Channel for the Telangana state and named it as Saptagiri after the famous ‘Laxmi Narasimha shrine (Yagagiri Gutta) of Telangana. The CM said the channel would prioritize the culture, language and the slang of Telangana.
The existing ‘Saptagiri’ channel will be delegated to Andhra Pradesh, with Telangana getting a brand new channel.Meanwhile, the DD officials in Hyderabad have already prepared the list of staff to work in Telangana and AP from october. The officials have already asked the 25 staff of different categories to get ready to move by the first week of October. The AP channel – Saptagiri – would start its operations from Vijayawada and Yadagiri will continue from Ramantapur
Before 1995 Doordarshan was the only television channel broadcasting Telugu programs. The channel maintained its monopoly till private channels were launched in 1996.
