The season of freebies may not be ending at least in Andhra Pradesh. Sources say that the AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is now all set for a new announcement. This is going to prove beneficial for those who are in the lower strata of society.
Usually, every month, people below the poverty line get iodized salt for a minimal price at fair price shops from government. And now Naidu is reportedly planning to give even this Salt for free. The consumption of salt is quite high among the people.
According to sources, this would cause a burden of Rs. 20 crores for the exchequer per annum, which may not be causing that much burden for the government and also from nutrition point of view, iodized salt is very important for healthy growth.
Hence Naidu feels that in case he can make people eat more salt, they would remember him and also support TDP government more which gave them this free salt! There is an age old analogy comparing eating salt with showing loyalty so we have to see how the people will show that to Naidu once this scheme becomes official.
