In what is being seen a major setback to the Chandrababu Naidu led TDP government's plan to pool land for the capital city, farmers who are currently in proposed capital region have made clear of their unwillingness to offer their lands. Sources say that angry farmers reportedly got into a bitter altercation with those who are supporting the government's move when there was a meeting held at Mandadam village in Tullur mandal of Guntur district. Farmers from Tullur, Tadikonda, Amaravathi and Mangalagiri met the leadership of Raithu Sanghala Samakhya leaders Cherukuri Venugopal and Narsi Reddy and trouble started when some rich farmers were in favor of giving away lands for the capital since government is planning large scale development in the region. But several other farmers reportedly shouted at them, warning that they should repeat such statements, while adding that would not be parting with their lands come what may. Media reports say that the farmers were terrified over government's move to grab their land in the guise of land pooling.
